Looking at pain with awareness
When the only way out is through: Looking at pain with awareness
Pain is a constant in our journey of modifying our bodies. In our professions we also deal with our clients’ suffering on a daily basis.
However ethics, etiquette, and bedside manner in relation to pain are often overlooked.
When we are facing pain ourselves we often try to detach from it, but sometimes the only way out is through. Suffering is never the goal, nor is it a pleasant companion. How can we make space for pain and how can we care for our clients in our practices with empathy? We’d like to propose the experience of pain as being less about endurance and more about embrace.
